Actor Santosh Shobhan is gearing up for the release of his upcoming musical romantic love story Couple Friendly, which is set to hit theatres in Telugu and Tamil on February 14, coinciding with Valentine’s Day. The film stars Manasa Varanasi as the female lead and is directed by Ashwin Chandrasekhar. It is produced by UV Concepts and presented by UV Creations, with Ajay Kumar Raju P. as co-producer. The film will be released across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana by producer and distributor Dheeraj Mogilineni. The pre-release press meet was held in Hyderabad, where the team shared details about the film and addressed recent discussions around the title and certification.
Speaking at the event, Dheeraj Mogilineni clarified that the censor board had suggested a change in the film’s title, but the makers chose to retain Couple Friendly as all promotions had already been done with the same name. As a result, the Telugu version received an A certificate, while the Tamil version was cleared with a UA certificate. He dismissed rumours about adult content and said the film is a clean romantic love story that can be watched comfortably by families. He added that the story revolves around young people from good family backgrounds, with family members playing key roles in the narrative. Dheeraj expressed strong confidence that the film would be a major breakthrough for Santosh Shobhan and said young audiences in particular would relate to his performance and emotions. He also revealed that special premieres are being planned in cities including Chennai, Hyderabad, Tirupati, Nellore, Vizag and Vijayawada, with shows starting from the evening of February 13 ahead of the official release on February 14.
Manasa Varanasi said the trailer received a very positive response from audiences, with many appreciating the tone and freshness of the love story. She shared that the script was originally written in Tamil and later adapted into Telugu, and the team took special care to retain the rhythm and timing of the dialogues. According to her, Couple Friendly was a true team effort, with every department working towards making a film that connects emotionally with audiences. She praised Santosh Shobhan’s dedication to his role and said the entire team felt a renewed energy after Dheeraj Mogilineni came on board as the distributor. She urged audiences to experience the film on the big screen.
Santosh Shobhan said the response to the promotional tour has been encouraging and that the support he is receiving from audiences has given him a lot of confidence. He mentioned that while he initially had doubts about the title, viewers will understand its relevance once they watch the film. He added that the makers have intentionally not revealed the core emotion of the story in the promotions, as it is meant to be experienced in theatres. The film follows the journey of Shiva and Mithra and shows how Shiva’s life transforms after meeting Mithra and how far he is willing to go for love. Santosh Shobhan also shared that Prabhas had voluntarily shared the trailer on social media, calling it a heartfelt gesture of support for the team.
