Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has once again landed in controversy after a statement he made during a recent interview triggered criticism on social media. The veteran actor’s contrasting responses about how he would react if his son or daughter fell in love have sparked a wider debate online about gender bias and parenting attitudes.

During the interview, Sanjay Dutt was asked a hypothetical question about how he would react if his son approached him and said he had fallen in love with someone. Responding casually, the actor said he would not oppose the relationship. Instead, he would simply ask who the girl is and arrange their marriage. His answer suggested that he would be supportive if his son chose his own partner.

However, the conversation took a different turn when the interviewer asked how he would react if his daughter came to him with the same situation and said she was in love. Sanjay Dutt gave a noticeably different response. He said that in such a situation he would first investigate the boy thoroughly and then take action if needed. The actor added that he would be prepared to face the consequences of his actions, even joking that he might end up going to jail for five years.

The comment quickly drew attention on social media platforms, where many users began criticizing the actor for what they described as a double standard. Critics pointed out that while Sanjay Dutt appeared relaxed about his son falling in love, he seemed far more protective and suspicious when speaking about his daughter’s relationship. Several users argued that such remarks reflect a common societal mindset where sons are given more freedom than daughters.

Many social media users also highlighted another aspect of the statement, saying that when the actor spoke about his son falling in love, he did not consider that the girl his son might marry would also be someone else’s daughter. According to critics, this difference in perspective reveals how deeply rooted gender bias still exists in many parts of society.

The clip from the interview quickly went viral online, with thousands of users sharing their opinions and debating the actor’s remarks. While some people criticized the comment as outdated thinking, a few others defended Sanjay Dutt by saying he was speaking emotionally as a protective father rather than making a serious statement about gender equality.

Sanjay Dutt, who has been a prominent figure in the Hindi film industry for decades, is no stranger to public scrutiny. However, this latest controversy has once again placed him in the spotlight, with discussions continuing across social media about parenting attitudes, gender equality and how public figures influence social conversations.
