Despite his ongoing scuffle with the Indian Medical Association (IMA) for labelling allopathy a “stupid science”, yoga proponent Ramdev has once again disputed the credibility of Covid-19 vaccines, claiming that he hasn’t taken a jab as he had utilised the dual cover of yoga and Ayurveda. Ramdev further asserted that the fatalities occured by the covid pandemic proved that allopathy was not 100% safe and efficacious.
“For decades, I have been practising yoga and Ayurveda, so I didn’t feel the need to get vaccinated. Over 100 crore people of India as well as in foreign countries have access to these ancient therapies. In the times to come, Ayurveda will be accepted worldwide,” Ramdev said.
He also purported that there was a massive smear campaigning to belittle the ancient Indian system vis-à-vis allopathy. Ramdev recently triggered major outrage after a video of him surfaced in which he was purportedly calling allopathy a “stupid science”. He later retracted those comments following objections by IMA and Union health minister Harsh Vardhan.
Meanwhile, The Resident Doctors’ Association of Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi declared that it will hold a ‘black day’ protest on Tuesday i.e June 1st against Baba Ramdev’s comments on allopathy, which have led to a long conflict between the medical fraternity and him.
It triggered with Ramdev denigrating the allopathic system as a “farce” and claiming that Covid patients had died due to allopathic medicines rather than oxygen shortage.
