The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has stepped back on a traditional meal program (Sampradaya Bhojanam) in Tirumala. There have been criticisms on social media over the decision to make money with the meal.
TTD Chairman YV Subba Reddy, who responded to the issue, said they had suspended the decision as it was taken in the absence of the governing body. He said there will be no money charging for the meal.
TTD had come up with an initiative to provide healthy food to devotees in the name of ‘Sampradaya Bhojanam’. The traditional meal is cooked using organic ingredients.
As part of the trial run, they served the meal consisting of 14 dishes to pilgrims. Breakfast, lunch and dinner under traditional meal will be prepared in Annamayya Canteen. After receiving a lot of opposition from many devotees, the TTD, however, reconsidered its decision.
