Monday night, in an unexpected turn of events, very suspiciously, funds were withdrawn from the GPF (General Provident Fund) accounts of the Andhra Pradesh government employees. Who withdrew this money, and how it was possible, is something that still remains a mystery to everyone in the sector.
Speaking about the issue, Suryanarayana, the president of the AP government employees association, said that the withdrawal started on Monday night, which was when he noticed that he got a message saying that Rs. 83,000 was withdrawn from his own GPF account. He said that the same thing happened to other state government employees, with money being withdrawn from the accounts of over 90,000 employees, making the amount go up to Rs. 800 Crores.
Suryanarayana said that there were no senior officials available in the office at the finance department when he went to enquire about the withdrawal. He said that a similar incident happened earlier as well, but that the amount was returned to them when they protested. He said that there is a possibility that the CPU unit of the finance department could have made this withdrawal, as they have the feasibility of doing so. Whosoever is behind this withdrawal, it certainly is causing quite the stir in the state.
