It is a known fact that Rohit Sharma has replaced Virat Kohli as captain of the Indian T20 team. In a significant development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday announced that the Mumbai Indians Skipper will take over from Virat Kohli as the captain of India’s ODI team as well.
“The All-India Senior Selection Committee also decided to name Mr Rohit Sharma as the Captain of the ODI & T20I teams going forward,” the BCCI said in a statement after announcing India’s Test squad for the South Africa tour.
In another important development, Ajinkya Rahane was removed from Test vice-captaincy. Rohit was named as the vice-captain of the Test team as the BCCI senior selection committee announced an 18-member squad for the 3-Test series.
As per the update, the first Test will take place from December 26-30 in Centurion; Second Test will take place from January 3-7, 2022, in Johannesburg; the Third Test will take place from January 11-15, 2022, in Cape Town. The ODI squad for South Africa’s tour is yet to be announced.
