Maverick director Ram Gopal Varma, who is known for his controversial biopics on political leaders, has now confirmed that he is going to direct a biopic on politician couple Konda Surekha and Murali. The filmmaker said that the entire movie will be shot in Warangal and nearby forests.
In a video message, RGV said that he was aware of rowdyism in Vijayawada as he studied there. Later, he came to know about the factionism in Rayalaseema after a bomb blast near Rama Naidu Cine Studio.
“But I know nothing about the Telangana armed struggle. After meeting former Naxalites and police officers, I came to an understanding of armed rebellion and naxalism in Telangana. I asked Murali to give me the information I needed to capture the situation cinematically then. He listened to my intention behind making this film and he agreed. Despite many attempts to crack down on the rebels, the uprising continued under the leadership of Murali and RK,” RGV said.
Quoting Karl Marx’s ideas about capitalism and Communism, RGV said that the great man told long ago about the struggle between capitalists and the working class.
