The incessant rains that poured all over Hyderabad for many days in the weeks that have gone by, many parts of Hyderabad have suffered great losses due to drowning. The Telangana government announced a relief package to all of these affected families, and said that each family would be paid Rs. 10,000 each.
Congress leader and MP Revanth Reddy protested in front of the GHMC zonal office in Kukatpally and demanded for an enquiry to be done into the funds released by the Telangana government. Revanth is strongly advocating, and alleging that the money that was to be given to the victims, has been distributed by the TRS workers and others, among themselves.
There’s at least the slightest bit of truth to Revanth Reddy’s claims, as earlier this week several flood victims had protested, saying that they did not get the money that was promised to them, as part of the relief fund.
The Hyderabad floods that were caused because of rains not only caused heavy property damage, but also claimed many lives. Many areas are still recovering from the losses done by the rains. As a result of excessive rainfall, several waterbodies overflowed and some sewers too, which made situations all the more worse in certain areas.
Boats had to be used by disaster management personnel, to help rescue those stuck in these areas.
