Chanakya trailer has raised the expectations on the film. The trailer has hinted that the movie is going to be high on action. Finally, the film is out into the theaters today. Did it reach all such expectations? Let’s see.

Story:

Arjun Srikar (Gopi Chand), an Indian Secret Agent will be appointed to nab the most wanted terrorists, Ibrahim Khureshi (Rajesh Khattar) and his son Sohail Ibrahim Khureshi (Upen Patel). How did Arjun and his team nab them in Pakistan and what are the consequences they faced, in the attempts, form the rest of the Chanakya story.

Performances:

There is not even a single artist’s performance that is notable in the film. Gopi Chand remained the same he is, like in his earlier films. Mehreen Kaur is irritating and her chemistry with Gopi is unbearable. Zareen Khan is okay to some extent. Both the villains- Rajesh Khattar and Upen Patel, were given a weakly written roles, due to which their performance had no scope for any kind of elevation.

Technical side:

Sri Charan Pakala background score is good. His BGMs have elevated several dull scenes in the film. It would be better to not discuss about Vishal Shekhar’s songs. Vetri Palaniswamy’s Cinematgraphy is above average. It is surprising to see the senior editor Marthand K Venkatesh retaining several boring and lengthy scenes in the first half. Abburi Ravi dialogues are good.

Chanakya’s story has been inspired from the Bollywood films like D-Day, Baby, Tiger Zinda Hai etc. Shockingly, director Thiru used the similar scenes in Chanakya too. With the series of boring scenes, director could not engage the audiences in any manner. The production values are rich, but Chanakya is unworthy to have such rich visuals.

Plus points:

– Gopi Chand introduction
– Interval bang
– Twist in the second half

Minus points:

– Old story and boring screenplay
– Gopi-Mehreen chemistry
– Weak action episodes

Analysis:

Chanakya miserably failed in all the major commercial aspects like action, love, romance, songs, thrills, etc. Except four to five scenes, Chanakya has no major thing to discuss. Among the several films, Gopi fans wish to forget, even Chankya joins the list now.

Finally: Chanakya- Not worth of your time
