It is already known that the Privilege Committee has passed an order to not let TDP members K Atchannaidu and Nimmala Ramanaidu speak in the assembly, due to their behaviour towards the ruling YSRCP. These two members remain to be the most prominent voices of the TDP in the assembly, and shutting them down would leave no voice of opposition left out in the house.
Keeping the same in mind, senior Telugu Desam Party leader and Repalle MLA Anagani Satya Prasad, wrote separate letters to privileges committee chairman Kakani Goverdhan Reddy and assembly secretary Balakrishnamacharyulu, requesting them to let Atchan and Ramanaidu speak in the assembly. He noted that every opposition member in the assembly has a right to speak on behalf of the people, to sort out their issues and that this is how the problems in the state could be resolved.
Prasad also reminded the Privilege Committee that there had been instances in the past, during the TDP’s tenure, when the members of YSRCP were unruly in the assembly, but that the TDP government took no action to completely silence them in the assembly. It is now to be seen what will happen.
