Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan finished the year 2020 in style with the arrival of his greatly anticipated film, Coolie No. 1. The film premiered on Amazon Prime Video on December 25.
Coolie No. 1 has become the most-watched Christmas release on Amazon Prime Video India. This David Dhawan’s directorial, was watched by audience across 3700+ Indian cities and towns within the first three days of its release. Nevertheless it has had rave responses from the crowd, the entertainer who acted along side Sara Ali Khan was paid truckloads of money for this 90’s Govinda – Karishma Kapoor remake.
Amid high expectations, this flick bagged a huge deal on Amazon Prime Video after theatres were shut down due to the lockdown. With that, the actor’s paycheck got bigger than ever. A little birdie revealed that Varun was reportedly paid a shocking remuneration of Rs. 25 crores for Coolie No. 1. This has been his highest payment for any film till date.
The source further stated, David Dhawan, who directed the remake with Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan, 15 years later has reportedly received Rs. 15 crores for the project. The associate director from Dhawan family, Rohit Dhawan, who worked as an associate director for the film was paid Rs. 7 crores. On the whole , the Dhawan family earned close to Rs. 50 crores for this comedy drama.
