Kolkata Knight Riders registered the lowest team total in this year’s IPL. They have managed to score 84 in 20 overs in the match held tonight against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Virat Kohli-led side chased the total in just 13.3 overs and won the match by 8 wickets. It was Mohammed Siraj who bowled a fantastic spell to break KKR’s top-order. He got good support from the other RCB bowlers as well.
KKR’s captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and elected to bat first. His team got a nightmarish start as it lost the wickets of Shubman Gill, Rahul Tripathi, Nitish Rana and Tom Banton in the first four overs itself. It was Mohammed Siraj who took three wickets in the powerplay and bowled two consecutive maiden overs. Within a gap of few overs, even Dinesh Karthik got dismissed. Only captain Eoin Morgan (30) played a decent game but even he got dismissed in the 16th over. In the end, KKR managed to score 84/8 in 20 overs. Chahal took two wickets in the game.
RCB started off well while chasing this low total. They didn’t lose any wicket in the powerplay. However, openers Aaron Finch (16) and Devdutt Padikkal (25) got out in the seventh over of the innings. Then, Virat Kohli (18*) and Gurukeerat Mann (21*) have completed the formalities by making 85/2 in 13.3 overs.
