Delhi Capitals are continuing their stunning run in this season of IPL. They won their fourth game of this edition and that too against the big team Royal Challengers Bangalore. Kohli and co failed to chase a total of 197 and lost the match by 59 runs. For Delhi, it was Marcus Stoinis (53*) who played an extraordinary innings. On the bowling front, it was a collective effort from the likes of Rabada (4/24), Axar Patel (2/18), Ashwin (1/26) and Anrich Nortje (2/22).
RCB skipper Virat Kohli chose to bowl after winning the toss. Once again, Delhi got a good opening partnership by Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan. They made a 68-run stand for the first wicket. It was Mohammed Siraj who broke this partnership. Later, Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer fell in a small gap. When Delhi looked like it was struggling, Rishab Pant and Marcus Stoinis settled the innings. They made 89 runs partnership and helped their team to achieve a good score. Stoinis once again played a blistering innings and kept the scoreboard going. By the end of 20 overs, Delhi managed to score 196/4.
RCB got a disastrous start while chasing this total as their key batsmen Devdutt Padikkal, Aaron Finch and AB de Villiers fell inside the powerplay. After six overs, RCB’s score was 43/3. Virat Kohli then tried to anchor the chase with the help of Moeen Ali but the latter fell in the 12th over. In less than two overs, captain Kohli also got out. After that, there was no chance for RCB to chase the total. They played all the 20 overs and were able to score 137/9.
