The Swarna Palace fires that broke in Vijayawada a few months ago, shook both the Telugu states, for the amount of tragedy and recklessness involved in it. Swarna Palace was hosting Coronavirus patients belonging to Ramesh Hospitals, who were getting treated for the virus at the hotel. The fire incident at the hotel resulted in the death of 10 members, and severe injuries for 20 more.
As soon as the fire broke out, Ramesh Babu Pothineni, owner of Ramesh Hospitals, was in absconding. He had even filed for an anticipatory bail back then, and has managed to neither get arrested, nor interrogate in the issue until now.
On Friday, the Andhra Pradesh High Court gave permission to the police department to interrogate Ramesh, after taking him into custody, Ramesh will be interrogated in the presence of an advocate, from November 30th to December 2nd.
Previously, Ramesh Babu and Chairman Sita Rammohan Rao had filed a petition in the High Court, requesting for all the cases filed against them by the Governorpet Police, to be cancelled. Approving this petition, the HC put on hold all cases concerning the two individuals, and Justice Dhonadi Ramesh also issued intermediary orders for the same.
Challenging this deccision by the HC, the AP government approached the Supreme Court of India, which approved the petition of the police department, and granted permission for the investigation of Ramesh babu, in relation to the incident.
