Filmmaker Raj Rachakonda, who won an award for biopic Mallesham, has joined hands with Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap to produce a Malayalam film, Paka – The River of Blood.
The film produced by Anurag Kashyap and Raj Rachakonda will be screened under the Discovery section at the 46th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 13th. The flick is directed by Nithin Lukose, who was the sound designer for Mallesham.
Talking about what inspired him to back the film, Raj says, “I wanted to produce the film from one of the crew members of Mallesham who helped me immensely in making my first film. Out of the four scripts narrated to me by the crew, went with Nithin’s film because PAKA is a poignant story about people’s simultaneous capacity for love and cruelty that displays great depth and emotion”.
Paka is set in Wayanad, Kerala, and stars a host of actors. It is a tale of a river that swells with the blood of two conflicting families and a young couple that tries to defeat this hatred with their love. The film stars Basil Paulose, Vinitha Koshy, Jose Kizhakkan, Athul John, Nithin George, and Joseph Manickal, among others.
