As Team India getting ready for the upcoming Test series and WTC final in England, the second-string Indian team is gearing up for a T20I and ODI series against neighbours Sri Lanka, at the same time. This team will play a 3-match ODI and 3-match T20I series in July.
With Head Coach Ravi Shastri and the star players of India are on England series, NCA chief Rahul Dravid is likely to don the coach’s hat in Sri Lanka along with his NCA coaches.
As the team needs a new captain for the Sri Lanka series, either Shikhar Dhawan or Bhuvneshwar Kumar could take up the responsibility of the side in the series. The BCCI will select a completely different team for the limited-overs Sri Lanka tour in July.
BCCI president Sourav Ganguly confirmed the same, “We have planned a white ball series for the senior men’s team during July, where they will play T20 Internationals and ODIs in Sri Lanka. Yes, it will be a team of white-ball specialists. It will be a different team.”
However, nothing has been finalised yet. The board is looking at multiple factors and they will take well a decision in time.
