In a shocking incident, Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, who is known for promoting gun culture and glorifying gangsters in his songs, was shot dead by unknown assailants in Jawaharke village of Mansa district on Sunday, May 29.
The singer was assassinated a day after the Punjab Police withdrew the security of 424 people, including him.
As per reports, Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar has claimed responsibility for Moose Wala’s murder. Having close ties to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, Brar said in a Facebook post that he had killed the singer to avenge the death of gangster Vicky Middukhera.
Based on a complaint by Sidhu’s father, an FIR has been registered under sections: 302, 307, 341, 148, 149, 427, 120-B of the Indian Penal Code and sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act.
Reports suggest that an AN-94 Russian assault rifle (Avtomat Nikonova model of 1994) was used to kill Sidhu Moose Wala. It is worth mentioning that the deceased rapper had contested this year’s Punjab assembly election on a Congress ticket from Mansa and was defeated by AAP candidate Vijay Singla.
