Airport authorities reported on Tuesday that flight services at the Pune airport will remain inoperative during night for a year owing to the recarpeting work of runway.
“The recarpeting work of runway is going to start from October 26 and will be on for around one year. Since the work is planned during the night time, the runway will be shut for flight operations between 8 pm and 8 am,” Pune Airport Director Kuldip Singh.
The director stated that the flight operations will exclusively be held from 8 am to 8 pm by avoiding late night flights after that. All the night flights, including take-offs and landings, have been re allocated in the day time for a transient phase. Due to which on an average 10 flights operating at the night will be arranged in the day time.
A high level meeting of the Airport Advisory Committee of Pune Airport was organised on Tuesday spearheaded by Pune MP Girish Bapat to announce about the changed norms.
Further issues related to amping up passenger facilities, airport infrastructure, land for cargo, widening of roads were discussed in the brain storming session.
