Premalu is a Malayalam movie, dubbed into telugu, directed by Girish, a 2 film old.The film has Naslen K. Gafoor and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles. The music was composed by Vishnu Vijay while the cinematography was done by Ajmal Sabu and it is edited by Akash Joseph. Telugu version dialogs are written by Aditya Hasan of #90s web series fame. Premalu was released by SS Karthikeya.
Story:
Sachin (Played by Naslen) is out of college with a heartbreak, whose only motto is to escape from his constantly fighting parents. with his friend’s(Sangeeth Prathap) suggestion he comes to Hyderabad, leading an aimless life. Reenu (Played by Mamitha), who has her own set of rules and plans on how to lead her life, Joins an IT company in Hyderabad. Aadhi (Shaym Mohan) is senior to Reenu in the office and tries to woo her. How an aimless and low-confident guy, Sachin, and a well-planned and independent girl Reenu, meet each other? Did Aadhi’s plans to woo Reenu worked out or not, forms the rest of the plot?
What about on-screen performances?
Naslen is perfect as Boy-Next-door. The way he showed innocence, Love, and at the same time a low-confidence attitude is brilliant.
Mamitha is the star of this film. She looked cute and did her role to perfection. One will fall in love with her character instantly. The role she played should be bubbly and at the same time should show maturity towards life. She aced it. Watch out for her minute reactions in the climax. We might see her in telugu movies soon.
Shyam Mohan did a great job as a cunning senior at the office. Sangeeth Pratap is fantastic as the Lead role’s friend. His comic timing is amazing. All his scenes with Naslen are a treat to watch.
Apart from these, the girl who played the role of Karthika and the guy who played the role of Subhash in the office will be remembered.
What about off-screen talents?
If we have to say the story of Premalu, it is as simple as a guy meeting girl. What makes this simple story special is the narration. Girish and his team did a great job by narrating this story with loads of fun. The way he created scenes between Sachin and Amal, Sachin and Reenu,Sachin and Shyam are a treat to watch.
There is a particular scene where Reenu’s friend asks Sachin, if he is stalking her, in a serious tone and Sachin replies about the Stock market. This looks silly on the paper. But the way this is conceived and the way this generated fun shows the talent of a director. There are many such scenes throughout the film.
The usage of “Just kidding” expression is very clever to show the real self of Aadhi who pretends to be a gentleman.
Not sure how it was in the original, but in the telugu version, the writer used many trending references like “kurchini madata petti”. “Kumari aunty” etc. This brought a certain authenticity in the dialogues and gave us the feel of watching an original movie rather than a dubbed one. Good Job by Adithya Hasan.
Music by Vishnu Vijay is good. All the songs were situational and blended with the narration very well. Though none of the songs will be remembered, the background is good and supported the narration effectively.
Most of the movie happens in Hyderabad and the visuals showcasing Hyderabad are very good.
Though the narration is good, it could have been better, with even more crisp editing, especially in the pre intervel and Scenes leading to Pre climax.

verdict: Premalu is a well made film that will satisfy its target audience.Lead actors along with the supporting cast did a good job. Girish is successfull in narrating the simple plot with good humour through out. Go with your friends and get refreshed.
