In a recent interview promoting his latest movie “Dominic and the Lady’s Purse” featuring Mammootty, Popular director Gautham Vasudev Menon shared his views on Kollywood actors’ choice of films. He emphasized that big budgets aren’t necessary for making good movies and content is more important.
He pointed out that many Kollywood stars prefer acting only in high-budget films and don’t prioritize scripts. If given the choice, Menon mentioned he would bring numerous stories to the Malayalam industry as Tamil actors often reject such stories. He added that Malayalam successful movies’ are frequently remade in Tamil, but original scripts are not being accepted. He also humorously added that his comments might affect his career in the Tamil industry.
About his new film, “Dominic and the Lady’s Purse,” starring Mammootty, which is set to release on January 23,he said that he made this movie to offer audiences a unique cinematic experience. Speaking about acting, he admitted he never wanted to act and dislikes being in front of the camera. However, due to unavoidable circumstances and good relationships with certain producers, he continued acting, taking opportunities they offered him.
