Following TPCC Chief Revanth Reddy’s remarks directed at the police, his assigned security personnel have been absent from duty for two consecutive days. The security staff made the decision to withhold their services in response to the Congress leader’s unfavourable comments about the police. Consequently, Revanth Reddy has been moving without security protection for the past two days.
Currently, TPCC Chief Revanth Reddy is entitled to a 2+2 security detail. However, over the past couple of days, his security personnel have not been reporting for duty. Revanth Reddy stated that he has not received any official communication regarding the removal of his security detail. Congress party leaders are demanding an explanation from the department regarding the absence of police security personnel assigned to public representatives.
Revanth Reddy made forceful criticisms of the police during an event held on the 14th of this month in the joint Mahabubnagar district. He claimed that names of police officers acting in favour of the ruling party were documented in two diaries. Revanth Reddy also commented that the police would face consequences once the Congress government is established. These statements were met with a strong rebuke from the Police Officers’ Association. Govardhan Patwari, the leader of the Nagar Kurnool District Police Officers Association, filed a complaint against Revanth Reddy at the Nagar Kurnool Police Station. In response to this complaint, the police have registered a case against Revanth Reddy along with former MLAs Vamsichand Reddy and Sampath Kumar. Additionally, a case has been filed at Siddipet police station based on a complaint from the police association.
