Prime Minister Narendra Modi Monday unveiled the statue of freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju in Bhimavaram in the West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. The 30-feet statue was opened on the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of the revolutionary freedom fighter, who is also known as Manyam Dora.
The 30-feet tall bronze statue was inaugurated as part of the events organised by the centre on the occasion of one year of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav.
PM Modi, who reached Gannavaram airport from Hyderabad, was received by Andhra Pradesh State Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
After unveiling the statue, Modi spoke with the public at a meeting in Peda Amiram near Bhimavaram.
