Amid the economic fallout in view of covid pandemic, Prime Minister Narendra Modi through a video conference launched Rs 1 lakh crore Agriculture Infrastructure Fund today. It was done in an attempt to nurture the development of agriculture sector, farmers, agricultural entrepreneurs and agritech players in view of post harvest management . In the conference spearheaded by Modi, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and senior ministry officials too interacted on the occasion.
Speaking further on the occasion, PM was delighted and said that Rs 17,000 crores as part of PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, have been deposited into bank accounts of 8.5 crore farmers promptly without any middlemen or any commission.
He stated that in the last year, Rs 75,000 crores have been deposited directly in the bank accounts of farmers as an aid via this scheme. Out of which 22,000 crores have been donated to the farmers during the Covid-19 lockdown.
He further added nation’s first rail from Maharashtra to Bihar for transport of vegetables, fruits, essential commodities, dairy products etc was specially laid for kisans and very soon will be constructed in UP and MP too.
