Without any vaccine to treat the Novel Corona Virus infection, the latest convalescent plasma therapy seems to the savior of the human race which is producing some great results.
Initially, there have been many doubts about its reliability. There were reports that the plasma of many recovered patients don’t have enough antibodies to fight with virus present in a COVID-19 patient. But now, the doctors believe that convalescent plasma therapy will help to curb the virus.
On Sunday, the first patient who undergone convalescent plasma therapy in Delhi has fully recovered and was discharged with a promising prognosis.
A 49-year-old patient who had tested positive for the Coronavirus on the 4th of this month was suffering from respiratory problems and the doctors supplied him with oxygen externally.
After his situation deteriorated from day to day, with permission from his family, the authorities had proceeded for the plasma therapy.
On the 14th of this month, the samples collected from the recovered patients is injected to the patient and found that it works as the patient recovers slowly.
According to the doctors, one recovered patient can save two lives and a single donor can donate 400ml of plasma and 200 ml is sufficient to treat one patient.
