Farmers belonging to the Krishna district have filed petitions against the Telangana government, in the Telangana High Court, on Monday. These farmers have challenged the GO 34 issued by the Telangana government, asking TS Genco to produce hydel power at 100% capacity at all power stations in Telangana.
The farmers said that producing hydel power at 100% capacity at Nagarjunasagar, Srisailam, Pulichintala projects would lead to severe water problems for several areas in Andhra Pradesh. A Lunch Motion petition has been invoked at the High Court in this regard.
The TS government decided to produce electricity at 100% capacity, keeping in mind the requirements of the state, and the various schemes introduced by the TRS government. On the other hand, the Andhra Pradesh government has written letters to PM Modi, Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) and Union Jal Shakti Ministry, against the TS government’s decision to use up Krishna river’s water to the maximum.
