The fact that Hyderabad has one of the fastest rate of growths when it comes to the number of coronavirus cases being recorded is not new to anyone living in the country. The rate of testing is one of the least, and the government is putting in the least of efforts to regulate the situation.
To say the least, the government of Telangana is behaving in a very detached manner, when it comes to the coronavirus pandemic, with the CM not having addressed the problem in a really long while, and the other members of the party are also following the same suit.
However, the peaks of recklessness came when the deputy speaker of Telangana, Padamrao Goud was seen without a mask during the celebrations of bonalu at his house. He had tested positive for coronavirus a while ago, and had been discharged only recently. The lack of a mask on his face is drawing a lot of criticism from everywhere in the country.
When Minister KTR gave Padmarao Goud a mask at a public event recently, he folded it and put it in his pocket, instead of wearing it on his face. If this was not a display of pure negligence, then no one can say what it is.
If the members of the government are themselves acting in such a careless attitude when in public, it is only common for the people of the state to follow suit. It is high time the government actually comments on the current situation and takes proper care before things get really ugly in the state, especially in the Capital city of Hyderabad.
