Actor and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan tweeted that a long-standing coastal erosion problem in Uppada, part of the Pithapuram constituency, is likely to get a permanent solution soon. He said the Central Government, through the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), is actively considering a proposal to build coastal protection structures at Uppada, with an estimated cost of ₹323 crore.
Pawan Kalyan mentioned that the project has been initiated by the NDA government. Over the past five years, the coastline in Uppada has been eroding at an average rate of 1.23 meters per year — with a total loss of nearly 12 meters. This erosion has badly affected nearby villages, especially the homes of fishermen.
He said the NDA alliance is committed to its election promise and that construction work will begin as soon as the required approvals are given.
In his tweet, Pawan Kalyan appreciated Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for submitting the proposal to the Ministry of Home Affairs through the NDMA. He expressed hope that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah will support the project and fulfill the hopes of people in the Kakinada region.
Pawan Kalyan also stated that the Union Government has always been generous to Andhra Pradesh and this project will bring long-awaited relief to the affected coastal communities.
