It is extremely tough to carry out zero budget politics in the present days, as the people got accustomed to receive money from the politicians and the leaders to give.
But Janasena Chief Pawan Kalyan was strict in regard to this issue and announced that neither he nor his party will offer a single rupee to anyone. While the announcements like these would influence the voters in the urban regions, considering the genuinity of Janasena, it may strike the wrong chord among the rural areas for refusing to pay the money, the analysts opine.
But it seems, Janasena has slashed such anticipations and succeeded even in grabbing the rural voters. In several rural areas across Andhra Pradesh, along with the youths, even the old people turned out in large numbers to vote for Janasena. Unlike other politicians, as Pawan reached out to the tribals too during his campaigning, he made sure that he grabbed their votes too, without spending a penny from his pocket.
Without having to spend a rupee, Pawan’s craze as a film star has initially drew heavy crowds for his political meetings, but later even the women and old people turned out in large number for the Janasena Chief, getting attracted towards his commitment towards the society.
While most of the other political parties, are allegedly selling the seats bagging crores, one brave step Pawan took during the elections was, picking the Janasena MLA and MP candidates from the common people like farmers, bus conductors, youth etc, which showed a positive impact on the party.
Even though Pawan several times mentioned that he would prefer youth more in his party, initially it was considered as a political stunt that the politicians usually do. But proving what he said, Pawan picked several educated youth as his party candidates and offered them tickets without bagging a single rupee.
Several acts like these made Janasena occupy a key position in AP politics. In a few of the places, where TDP was extremely strong and has every scope to win over there, the Janasena voters were still obedient and voted to Pawan’s party itself. Irrespective of the result, the impact Janasena made in 2019 AP selections can be definitely termed as historic. No doubt, he laid foundation for the new age politics already and it should be seen, how it takes its growth, in the coming days.
