Actor-politician and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has expressed deep concern over the developments surrounding the International Santal Conference held in Darjeeling, after remarks made by Droupadi Murmu about the conduct of the event.

Taking to social media on Sunday morning, Pawan Kalyan said he was saddened by the issues that reportedly occurred during the conference, which was organised to celebrate the heritage and culture of the Santhal tribal community. He stated that such events must uphold dignity, inclusiveness and respect for the communities they represent.

Referring to the President’s comments, Pawan Kalyan said it was unfortunate that circumstances arose where members of the Santhal community themselves reportedly faced difficulties in attending a conference meant to honour their own culture. He emphasised that cultural gatherings celebrating tribal heritage should be organised with proper planning and sensitivity so that the community’s voices and participation remain central to the event.

Pawan Kalyan also highlighted the importance of maintaining the highest standards of protocol and respect when the President of India attends any official event. He said the office of the President carries the highest constitutional dignity in the country and ensuring that the visit is conducted smoothly and respectfully is the responsibility of the concerned administration.

The Jana Sena Party chief further underlined the significance of India’s tribal communities in shaping the nation’s identity and cultural richness. According to him, the traditions, heritage and voices of tribal communities must always be honoured with sincerity and genuine respect.

His remarks came after concerns were raised about the arrangements and participation at the International Santal Conference, drawing attention to the need for better coordination and inclusivity in events meant to celebrate indigenous communities.

Pawan Kalyan concluded by reiterating that cultural celebrations involving tribal communities should reflect true respect for their heritage and ensure meaningful participation, so that such platforms genuinely represent and honour their traditions.
