Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has raised serious concerns in the Assembly over the growing number of pending court cases across the country and stressed the need to strengthen the judicial system for faster delivery of justice. Highlighting the impact of delays on ordinary citizens, he said the increasing backlog of cases is affecting millions of families and requires urgent reforms in court infrastructure and legal processes.

Speaking in the Assembly, Pawan Kalyan pointed out that more than 1.11 crore civil cases and 3.80 crore criminal cases are currently pending in courts across India. He said such a massive pendency is creating significant pressure on the judicial system and delaying justice for a large number of people. According to him, ensuring timely justice should be a priority and both infrastructure development and technological adoption are essential to address the issue.

The Deputy Chief Minister emphasized the need to improve basic facilities in courts. He said several courts still lack adequate infrastructure such as proper buildings, toilets, rest rooms, drinking water facilities and modern digital systems. Strengthening these basic amenities would not only improve the working environment for judicial staff and lawyers but also help citizens who visit courts for their cases.

Pawan Kalyan also stressed the importance of expanding Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms to reduce the burden on courts. He said encouraging methods such as mediation and arbitration can help settle disputes faster without lengthy court trials. This approach, he noted, would significantly reduce the number of cases entering the regular judicial process.

He further highlighted the role of technology in transforming the justice delivery system. The adoption of digital tools such as video conferencing, automated case management systems and other online judicial processes can help speed up trials and improve efficiency. According to him, integrating technology into the court system will play a key role in reducing case pendency and ensuring quicker justice for citizens.

Pawan Kalyan said strengthening judicial infrastructure, promoting ADR systems and implementing advanced digital solutions will together help build a more efficient and accessible justice system in the country. He stressed that improving the speed and transparency of the legal process is essential to restore public confidence in the justice delivery system.
