The recent interim data from Oxford university says that vaccines by Pfizer and Moderna showed fantastic results with 70.4% efficacy against covid-19.
The study’s data also suggests, perfecting the dose could amp up protection up to 90% too. It was precisely observed when the volunteers were given half a dose initially followed by full dose, stated BBC radio. It also added that no one who received vaccine shots required hospital treatment for covid-19.
UK health secretary stated that Oxfoed-astrazeneca gave a “really encouraging news”. However, he emphasised that vaccines need to be reviewed by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). So it will still play a pivotal role in curbing the pandemic, if it is approved by regulatory officials.
The UK government has pre-ordered 100 million doses of the Oxford vaccine, enough to immunize 50 million people. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he was excited to hear that the vaccine has proved so effective in trials.

The Oxford researchers have developed the vaccine in around 10 months, a process that generally takes a decade.
