The YSRCP government’s plan to introduce new districts in the state is a rather tricky one, as it would pose several political challenges for various politicians, who have been associated with certain constituencies for several years now. One of those leaders is TDP’s heavyweight and former AP unit president Kala Venkata Rao.
Sources say that Rao’s political career seems to be coming to an end, with both the constituencies that he’s associated with, not being able to support him anymore. Kala Venkat Rao has been in active politics since the formation of the TDP and has been an MLA, Rajya Sabha MP and even the Home Minister of the state for some time. He concentrated on two assembly constituencies in Srikakulam district – Rajam and Parvathipuram.
According to the YSRCP’s plan, Rajam would be merged into Vizianagaram district and Parvathipuram would be added to the proposed Manyam district. In fact, he had to forgo Rajam some time ago, after it was designated an SC reserved seat. While he is currently trying to consolidate himself in the Etcherla constituency, he has been termed as a non-local. On the whole, Rao’s political career seems to be coming to an end, and it is now to be seen how and what he will do to make it better.
