The Telangana Rashtra Samithi has been enjoying unparalleled popularity and following in the state, or that was the popular opinion until now. The TRS won with a vast majority in the last two general elections, but things seem to be changing right now, especially with the Huzurabad by-polls result.
The TRS hoped that it would win the elections without a problem, but the BJP emerged victorious with a majority of votes. Etela Rajender was the BJP’s candidate, and he managed to win back his constituency, sending a shock wave through the TRS party and his members. KCR had thought of organising Telangana Vijaya Garjana Sabha in Warangal by mobilising ten lakh people on November 15, to celebrate 20 years of TRS’s establishment.
However, just within a few hours before the counting of the votes in Huzruabad began, he postponed the meeting to November 29th. Political analysts are of the belief that KCR postponed the meeting, anticipating the result of the by-polls, as all the members of the TRS would be left shocked and disappointed. On the other hand, when ministers Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Satyavathi Rathod, former deputy CM Kadiam Srihari and party MLAs in Devannapeta village in Hasanparthi Mandal to identify a suitable land parcel for the said meeting, farmers of Devannapet village rushed to the spot and obstructed them from examining their lands. They are said to have denied their lands being used for the meeting, as their lands would get destroyed, which is yet another shock to the TRS.
