Andhra Jyothi published an article on 06.09.2025 titled “Surya Ghar ki Maska Maska”. The article carried false and misleading claims about the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. NREDCAP strongly rejected these allegations and clarified the facts.
The Surya Ghar scheme was launched by the Government of India to promote solar rooftop power and provide free electricity to households. The goal is to install 1 crore solar rooftop systems by 2026-27 across the country. Andhra Pradesh has set a target of 10,000 rooftop plants in each Assembly Constituency. The program is being implemented through the official national portal pmsuryaghar.gov.in.
NREDCAP explained that:
There is no tender process for rooftop solar installations. Vendors can register with DISCOMs by submitting a bank guarantee of ₹2.5 lakh.
Local bodies like Gram Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies receive ₹1,000 incentive per installation.
MEPMA is creating awareness through Self Help Groups (SHGs). Ellvin Industries only submitted a proposal which was forwarded to MEPMA, and no special preference was given.
The claim that ₹8,000 crore was allocated to a single company is completely false.
Tenders were called only for SC/ST households under a different Utility Led Aggregation (ULA) scheme. Ellvin Industries did not participate in this tender.
NREDCAP requested the media not to mislead the public with wrong information. Such reports may damage the success of the Solar Rooftop Scheme which aims to provide clean energy and real benefits to people.
