The 21-day lockdown became effective on the intervening night of March 24-25 just immediately after the All India curfew. The administration has asked all states and UTs to carefully uphold the lockdown taking into account the gigantic mass migration of workers.
It issued a lot of measures to be executed by local authorities to authorise the lockdown and to ensure that the migrant labourers don’t confront any challenges.
As India entered into Day 6 of a 21-day lockdown, Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba said, Centre does not plan to extend the lockdown. “I am surprised to see such reports. There is no such plan of extending the lockdown,”.
