Recently, eleven people were killed in a road accident in Karnataka. Six were seriously injured. The incident took place when a Tempo traveler collided with a sand tipper at Itagatti near Dharwad city on the Hubli-Dharwad bypass road. Fifteen IMA lady doctors from Davanagere set off on a Tempo Traveler to Goa. Their vehicle collided with a sand tipper. The Tempo Traveler was crushed in the accident.
Nine women, a driver, and a cleaner died on the spot. They all seem to belong to wealthy, political families. Most of the dead were gynecologists. Some of the bodies were scattered on the road at the spot. The whole area became horrified with blood stains. Bodies trapped in the Tempo Traveler were taken out in the afternoon on the hardest. The bodies were shifted to Hubli Kims Hospital and the injured were shifted to government and private hospitals in Hubli and Dharwad. Dharwad SP Krishnakant, Dharwad Rural police, and officials inspected the accident site. The cause of the accident is believed to be the disappearance of the oncoming vehicle due to fog.
