New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern on Sunday informed that she has canceled her wedding amid a new wave of Omicron cases in the country.
“My wedding won’t be going ahead, but I just join many other New Zealanders who have had an experience like that as a result of the pandemic,” Ardern said.
The country’s new restrictions will remain in place until the end of next month. Ardern and partner Clarke Gayford have never revealed their wedding date, but it was expected to be arranged for some time in the next few weeks.
Asked by reporters how she felt about the cancellation of her wedding to longtime partner and fishing-show host Clarke Gayford, Ardern replied: “Such is life.”
Meanwhile, New Zealand has detected 15,104 Covid-19 cases and recorded 52 deaths since the pandemic began.
