Hindus all over the state of Andhra Pradesh are wailing out at the repeated atrocities against the Hindu religion and culture. Several idols and temples have been vandalised greatly in the last one year, and the most notable incidents are the burning of the Antarvedi chariot, and the missing case of 3 silver lions of the Vijayawada Kanaka Durga Chariot.
Political leaders are accusing the YSRCP government for being the reason for such atrocities taking place in the state, with Nara Chandrababu Naidu saying that the Jagan government doesn’t care about the Hindu religion, and even saying that they are the biggest offenders of the religion.
While the blames on the government – for neither responding properly, nor making sure that such a thing doesn’t happen again – the Hindu religion continues to be attacked time and again. A Nandi statue facing the Shiva Linga in the Shiva Temple of Nangamangalam village, GD Nellore Mandal, 14 KM from Chittoor, was vandalised on Saturday night, by a group of anonymous people.
It is being said that these people vandalised the statue thinking that it contains precious ornaments made of gold and other metals. When the Nandi statue had recently developed cracks, the temple Trust had covered those cracks up, and this was the exact moment rumors regarding the Nandi statue containing gold surfaced in the village.
A file has been registered in the Police Station, and the search for this group of people has begun. While the story that is being told is that of pearls, gold, diamond and others, it is to be seen what the reality of this vandalism was, and what impact this incident will have on the already tense political situation in Andhra Pradesh.
