The Polavaram project is a highly prestigious project for the state of Andhra Pradesh, as it is not only a national project, but also would prove to be a lifeline for the entire state, supplying water to even the driest places of the state. As such, there are a lot of expectations for the project and its completion.
Things regarding the Polavaram project have gone for a toss since the YSRCP came to power, with Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy calling for reverse tendering, which halted the entire process for several months, after which it was resumed by a completely new team. Recently, there has been a wall failure of the project as well, with the dam’s wall developing a crack as it was not able to withstand the pressure of the floods in the area.
Addressing a zoom conference with party leaders today, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu condemned the CM’s actions of reverse tendering for the Polavaram project, saying that the CM has done all of this only to spite the TDP, and to undo what good the TDP government has done. He also said that the YSRCP is jealous of the TDP’s recently held Mahanadu, which is why it is filing false cases against members of the TDP, to simply get back at them.
