Director Puri Jagannadh is facing challenges after two back-to-back failures, Liger and Double iSmart. He is now trying to make a strong comeback. Recently, there were rumors that he prepared a story for Akhil, but it seems he actually met with Nagarjuna. Currently, apart from guest appearances in Kubera and Coolie, Nagarjuna doesn’t have any solo hero commitments. He has been listening to scripts but hasn’t approved any yet.
In the past, Nagarjuna and Puri worked together on two films. Shivamani was a big success. Following this, Nagarjuna produced Super with Puri under his own banner. Inspired by Dhoom, this heist thriller fell short of expectations. However, its songs, Anushka’s introduction, and stylish direction kept it from being a complete failure. Since then, they haven’t collaborated again, and it’s been almost 20 years.
Their collaboration news are just rumors for now and nothing is confirmed yet. However, if a good script materializes, we might see an action movie from this duo again. After Naa Saami Ranga, Nagarjuna has agreed to a pan-India project with a Tamil director, but it is still stuck in pre-production with little progress. Kubera is scheduled for release on June 20, while Coolie might release during Dasara or Diwali.
