The Munugode by-polls carried so much political heat around them in Telangana, with the by-polls turning out to be a huge matter of pride for almost every party involved. The vote counting procedure for this by-polls is currently underway, with the ruling TRS party leading, towards the end of the Eighth round, with 3091 votes.
A total of 47 candidates have contested in the Munugode by-elections, but really, it is a war between the TRS and the BJP, with the former trying to reassert its power in Telangana, and the latter trying to establish itself properly and thoroughly in Telangana. The two parties are going head-on, with BJP not far behind TRS in the by-elections.
It is said that Etala Rajender, who defected from TRS to BJP after a humiliating experience with the TRS this year, is said to have wanted those in charge of counting the votes. He is said to have called them personally and asked them to make sure that the counting procedure is properly done, and that there are no mistakes. It is to be seen who will ultimately be the winner of these by-elections.
