The Telugu Desam Parrty lost colossally in the 2019 elections as a direct resulting of losing the Kapu community’s votes. For the upcoming 2024 elections, the TDP is trying to shift all of its focus to the Kapu community and is even trying to tie up with Jana Sena to get the community to vote for them. While the truth is that the Kapu community is slowly but gradually coming back to the TDP, things seem to be getting a little complicated for the TDP in the meantime.
The Kapu community patriarch, Mudragada Padmanabham, is making an effort to polarise the Kapus, which would only cause a division in the Kapu votes. This would mean that me of the Kapu leaders would turn away from the TDP, which would be damaging for the political party, which is trying to get the full attention of the community. The TDP is of the opinion that the YSRCP is behind this move.
Mudrapragada has been a supporter of the YSRCP dor quite some time now, and Ganta Srinivasa Rao has also been trying to shift to the YSRCP ever since he won the 2019 elections. With both these people inching towards the YSRCP, the TDP is said to be concerned about its vote bank from the Kapu community. It is now to be seen how the TDP will tackle the issue.
