The next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be held with ten teams. A mega auction will also be held in January. However, it is learned that the management of IPL has already made it clear to the respective franchises that the current teams have to submit the details of the players they will be retained by the 30th of this month.
It is in this context that news is circulating that defending IPL champions Chennai Super Kings will be retaining their captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for another three seasons of the T20 league.
As per the rules, each team may retain a maximum of four players. Apart from Dhoni, the franchise has saved all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and opener Ruturaj Gaikwad. The team is also in talks with Moeen Ali to come on board. If Ali doesn’t agree to stay, the team will move on to England pacer Sam Curran as the fourth option to retain.
