Ever since Chennai Super Kings won the IPL-2021 title, Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s fans are hoping to see the skipper playing for the franchise for the next year.
With confusion growing around Dhoni’s retention, CSK has officially announced that the first retention card they will be using is for Dhoni. With this, the suspense over whether Dhoni will be available for the upcoming IPL season seems to have come to an end.
However, it is known that Dhoni has said in the past that he wants to stay with CSK and play the farewell game in Chennai. However, whether or not Dhoni plays in the IPL-2022 will depend on the BCCI’s retention policy. A CSK official recently said that a call on whether to retain MSD for the next season will be taken only after knowing the rules of the system.
The retention rules have not been laid down as yet and two more teams are set to be added in the 2022 edition. Meanwhile, CSK under MS Dhoni won their 4th IPL title last Friday beating Kolkata Knight Riders in the final.
