Senior actor Mohan Babu has been sentenced to one year jail term under a cheque bouncing case.
Director YVS Chowdary earlier directed a film called ‘Saleem’ with Manchu Vishnu as the male lead and Mohan Babu produced it under Laxmi Prasanna Pictures banner. YVS received a cheque of Rs.40.5 lakhs which the director was asked to encash, only after the film’s release.
But when YVS went to encash the cheque after Saleem’s release, the bank refused to pay the amount as the orders have been issued by the account holder to stop the payment on that cheque number.
Shocked over this, YVS filed a case on Mohan Babu and the Erramanzil court in Hyderabad has today declared a judgment on the case, announcing a 1 year jail term to the actor turned politician. The court identified Laxmi Prasanna pictures banner as A1 and Mohan Babu as A2. Apart from the jail term, the court also levied Rs. 41.75 lakhs as a fine on Mohan Babu. While the case was filed in 2010, there was no response about it from the Manchu family as of yet.
Reportedly, as Saleem was registered as a massive failure at the box office, Mohan Babu was unwilling to pay any amount to YVS Chowdary. The duo reportedly even involved in the verbal war during the early days of the film’s release.
Mohan Babu recently joined YSRCP and was considered as a star campaigner, who has the eligibility to address heavy crowds after Jagan Mohan Reddy in the party. But much to the shock, the cheque bouncing case on the actor is worrying both Manchu family and the YSRCP insiders now.
AP government involvement in troubling Mohan Babu?
In the recent times, Mohan Babu fought against the AP government for allegedly stopping the payments regarding the fee reimbursement of the students of his educational institution Vidyanikethan. At this point of time, the actor facing the similar situation, just like he created one for the AP government, is truly an embarrassing one. By the way, is the cheque bouncing case against Mohan Babu has anything to do with the AP government? Let’s wait for the revelations.
