The National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission (NCDRC) has directed a luxury hotel in Delhi to pay Rs 2 crore as compensation for giving a wrong haircut to a woman in 2018.
As per reports, a model for hair products had lodged a complaint against Hotel ITC Maurya in 2018 for the wrong haircut and treatment given to her by ill-trained staff at the salon in the hotel.
The Model commented that her dream of mounting the highest peaks was ruined due to the mistake of the hotel staff. NCDRC president RK Agarwal and member Dr SM Kantikar issued orders to this effect. He commented that women have an emotional attachment to hair, that they take many precautions to preserve and keep them in good condition, and spend as much energy as possible.
“The complainant was a model for hair products because of her long hair. She has done modeling for VLCC and Pantene. But due to haircutting against her instructions by the opposite Party No.2 (ITC Hotels Ltd), she lost her expected assignments and suffered a huge loss which completely changed her lifestyle and shattered her dream to be a top model,” the order read.
The Model commented that she had scalp burns due to the mistake and was still suffering from itching and allergies. After examining the complainant’s WhatsApp chat, the NCDRC said that the hotel management had admitted its mistake and agreed to take corrective action.
