In a shocking incident, a minor girl in Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria district was beaten to death by her grandfather and two uncles after she defied their ‘no jeans’ diktat.
The incident happened on Monday but it came to light on Tuesday when passersby found the victim’s body hanging from the grille of Patanwa bridge on Kasya-Patna highway.
As per reports, the 17-year-old victim’s father is employed in Punjab’s Ludhiana. She began wearing western outfits after she moved to Ludhiana, along with her family. Later, she and her mother came back to their village in Deoria’s Mahuadeeh area.
After returning to the village, the elders there directed her to wear Indian traditional clothes and demanded not to wear western dresses. However, she didn’t listen to them and followed her own will. These incidents triggered her kin to kill the teenage girl.
The girl’s grandfather Paramhans Paswan and her uncles — Vyas Paswan and Arvind Paswan — are behind this crime.
