There is no stopping for Mumbai Indians in this year of Indian Premier League. They are in a stupendous form and have proved yet again. As a result, they have won against Delhi Capitals tonight in Qualifier 1 by 57 runs. Mumbai scored 200 runs on the slow track of Dubai and restricted Delhi for a score of 143. Quinton de Kock (40), Surya Kumar Yadav (51), Ishan Kishan (55*) and Jasprit Bumrah (4/14) have shined for Mumbai. It has now become the first team to qualify for the finals.
After winning the toss, Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer opted to bowl first. Delhi got a good start by dismissing Rohit Sharma for a golden duck. However, that was the only positive of Delhi’s game today. Later, de Kock and Surya Kumar Yadav made a partnership of 62 runs for the second wicket. In the backend of the innings, Ishan Kishan scored aggressively for Mumbai. Thus, they managed to score 200/5 in 20 overs.
Delhi got a terrible start while chasing this high total. They lost the wickets of Prithvi Shaw, Rahane, Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer in the first four overs. Even Rishab Pant came and went back home in no time. At one point, Delhi’s score was 41/5. Then, Marcus Stoinis and Axar Patel made a partnership of 71 runs but it was of no use. In the end, Delhi managed to end its innings with a score of 143/8 in 20 overs. After losing this match, they will now play Qualifier 2 with the winner of eliminator.
