Mechanic Rocky is Vishwak Sen’s new film that has been in the making for a long time. Featuring Meenakshi Chaudhary and Shraddha Srinath in key roles, the film is directed by Ravi Teja Mullapudi. Read our detailed review below.

Story

Rocky (Vishwak Sen) is a local mechanic who runs a driving school in a prime location. A dreaded don, played by Sunil, tries to encroach on his shed. Rocky begs for time to arrange ₹50 lakhs to save his shed. He then discovers that his late father had left him an insurance policy worth ₹2 crores. Elated, Rocky goes to the insurance office, only to uncover a crazy twist. What is this loophole? How do Shraddha Srinath and Meenakshi Chaudhary fit into this setup? To find out, watch the film in theaters.

What about on-Screen Performances?

Vishwak Sen handles roles like these effortlessly. He excels in the action sequences and delivers well in tense situations. His dancing is also commendable.

Meenakshi Chaudhary shines as the girl next door. She gets ample screen time and shares excellent chemistry with Vishwak Sen.

Shraddha Srinath is exceptional. Her character is both surprising and well-executed, showcasing her talent and adding depth to the story.

Sunil is effective in his brief role. Roadies Raghu adds a unique touch, while Naresh evokes a few laughs in the first half. Harshvardhan also delivers a neat performance.

What about off-screen performances?

Jakes Bejoy delivers a good soundtrack, though the background score (BGM) stands out, particularly in the second half, elevating the proceedings.

The cinematography is impressive, with well-shot chase and action sequences that look great on the big screen.

The production design and dialogues are adequate. While the story is routine, focusing on cyber crimes, its narration in the second half is engaging.

Director Ravi Teja Mullapudi, in his debut, crafts a story around contemporary crime. Though the second half is handled well, the first half falters with boring family scenes and an uninspired love track.

Mechanic Rocky film only picks up at the interval, maintaining its pace with twists and turns that keep the audience hooked.

The portrayal of cyber games is compelling, and the star cast is well-utilized, particularly Shraddha Srinath’s standout character. Despite a dull start, the film shifts gears and ends on a satisfying note.

What’s Hot?

  • Second Half
  • Shraddha Srinath
  • Twists and Turns

What’s Not?

  • Boring First Half
  • Dull Comedy
  • Songs act as speed breakers

Verdict

On the whole, Mechanic Rocky is a passable thriller with an engaging second half. While the first half feels lethargic and irritating at times, the gripping twists and turns later on make it worth a watch this weekend.
