Let’s dive into the review.
Story:
“Mayasabha” is a fictional political drama that mirrors real-life politics of Andhra Pradesh.
Krishnam Naidu (Aadhi Pinisetty), born in a farmer’s family, dreams of serving people through politics. On the other hand, Rami Reddy (Chaitanya Rao), a doctor and son of a powerful faction leader Bambul Shiva Reddy (Shankar Mahanti), rejects his father’s violent ways. Both Krishnam and Rami become friends during their youth, but their journey gradually turns political and competitive.
The series showcases their rise in politics, their friendship, and how circumstances eventually lead to rivalry. It also touches upon major political events, including the Emergency under Prime Minister Airavati Basu (Divya Dutta), and introduces strong political players like Rayapati Chakradhar Rao (Sai Kumar). Season 1 ends just before the much-anticipated clash between the “mentor” and “son-in-law” that is expected to be the highlight of Season 2.
On Screen Performances:

Shankar Mahanti (Bambul Shiva Reddy): Outstanding performance; dominates every scene he appears in.
Divya Dutta (Airavati Basu): Perfectly fits the authoritative role.

Direction (Deva Katta & Kiran Jay Kumar): Maintains a neutral tone without glorifying or targeting any political figure directly. Excellent handling of political drama with gripping narration.
Music (Shaktikanth Karthick): Background score elevates the drama. The song “Sahodara” is memorable.
Cinematography: Neatly captures the political era and gives an authentic feel.
Production Design & Art: Successfully recreates the retro political backdrop.
Editing: Crisp and well-paced, though a few mid-episodes feel slightly stretched.
VFX: Weak in a few action scenes (like beheading shots).

Strong political storytelling with balanced representation.
Excellent performances by Aadhi, Chaitanya, Sai Kumar, and Shankar Mahanti.
Realistic depiction of political strategies, caste equations, and power struggles.
Authentic production design and music.
Engaging climax leading to Season 2 buildup.
What’s Not:
Some mid-episodes, like the hospital subplot and Krishnam Naidu’s college romance, feel slow and unnecessary.
Limited impact of a few characters due to safe play in political references.
Certain VFX shots are not up to the mark.
Known political events may feel predictable for those familiar with history.
